What is it?

CLP stands for the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the Classification, Labeling and Packaging of substances and mixtures. The Regulation is based on the United Nations’ Globally Harmonised System (GHS) and its purpose is to ensure a high level of protection of health and the environment, as well as the free movement of substances, mixtures and articles.

Lime substances are classified according to CLP as:

  • Skin irritant 2 – H315: Causes skin irritation.
  • Eye Damage 1 – H318 Causes serious eye damage.
  • STOT SE 3       – H 335: May cause respiratory irritation.

This industry self-classification is confirmed in the assessment reports established as a result of the evaluation of the 4 lime active substances in the context of the biocide product Regulation (EU) No 528/2012.
