What is it?
CLP stands for the Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on the Classification, Labeling and Packaging of substances and mixtures.
The CLP Regulation entered into force on 20 January 2009. It introduces the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (UN GHS) into Europe, which means new classification criteria, hazard symbols (pictograms) and labelling phrases.
IMA-Europe assisted its members in meeting the CLP requirements for:
- The classification and labelling of relevant substances by 1 December 2010 and for
- The notification of all classifications of these substances to the Inventory of European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by 3 January 2011.
The deadline to classify, label and package mixtures in line with the CLP requirements is 1 June 2015.
