Lime is used in the manufacture of paper pulp, particularly in the production of precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). Due to its exceptional physical and bleaching characteristics, it helps produce high quality paper.
Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), is used as a whitening agent in the paper-making process. It helps recover caustic soda (white liquor) from paper-mill sludge.
5 to 10 kg of make-up lime may be needed for every ton of pulp produced.
